Now, to look fashionable you don’t necessarily need to own your favorite style icon’s closet. It’s simply all about having the best basics, classics and use a little bit of your creativity.
I think when you are creative with the items you have, you can easily trick people and make them believe you have the biggest walk in closet ever, just by changing little details.
That’s why in this new category called Fashion Fix I am going to show you how you could wear items (today it’s the faux leather pencil skirt) in different ways. In that way you’ll get more out of clothes you probably think are not appropriate for certain occasions. Because it’s a new category, I thought it would be nice to add a little bit of change to it. That explains the filtered pictures.
1. (any) Date/night out
When going on a date for the first time, you don’t want to exaggerate your outfit by showing too much, but at the same time you don’t want to look like you’re going to the market or to uni. I think the best option is to go for something in between. Meaning: laid back with popping items that will upgrade your outfit. In this case the leather skirt, the leopard print shoes and the belt upgrade the outfit, that’s why I made sure I used as less jewelries as possible. You could rock such an outfit to any date, to be fair!
I think the best way to dress down a leather (pencil) skirt is to pair it with different fabrics. Think satin, jeans, cotton. Here I wore it with a chunky knitted vest and a shirt and I think it makes the leather skirt look more casual. This could be a great daytime outfit to go anywhere.
Now, depending on where you work of course, you have to be careful with the leather pencil skirt at work, because it can easily look over the top. To make it office proof, I think any blouse that makes sure you don’t show too much skin is perfect. Office proof doesn’t necessarily mean boring. To create an interesting outfit, I chose for a printed blouse. A blazer would be a great finishing touch in this case.
